Next for Joseph was when I decided to teach him to drive shortly after riding him.  He did great on his first day going down the road but of course I didn't hook him up to anything, I just trailed behind him.  I also rode him over to the neighbor's when they got their mule team out to let Joseph see a team pulled wagon.  He hardly looked at it.  some horses are really upset by team pulled wagons especially mules.  He was perfect until I tried to go home.  He didn't want to leave that wagon but he finally did.

This year was not as exciting however it was just as busy.  I roped calves this spring, and rode Bethany in two parades.
In June I bought me two more Nez Pierce horses.  One I found a home for right away (that one was Bethany's half-brother as well as the other horse's half-brother, but he was white and blue-eyed and I only took him because the lady I got him from made me take him).  The other horse, Joseph, I kept and have plans to make him a roping and parade horse as well as a trick horse if possible.  Joe, is a buttermilk buckskin with a blaze and three socks.  I recently got to work him and I'm riding him now and I think he just may work out.  We'll see ether this winter or next spring.

The year 2008 11/10/2009

I had decided to do 4H with my horse, Bethany.  We did very well in our practices.  I also roped for my first time on Bethany.  That was fun.  I joke about it saying 'My horse knows how to rope better than I do.'  She'd follow the calves but I couldn't seem to get their heads in the loop.  Oh well, we had helpers on the ground to rope them and then us riders would drag them to the fire.
Two days before the show, Bethany came up lame in her hind foot,  I took Pixi instead.  Even though I knew I couldn't place (because I brought the wrong horse), I thought it would be a good chance to get Pixi out and fun for me.  This horse had never been hauled anywhere, never been in comotion, nor had I practiced any of the moves for the show on her and we ended up getting a red ribbon in showmanship and in the trail class anyway.  Pixi did great and two weeks later, Bethany was still lame and so I took Pixi in the Kooskia Days Parade.  We were placed behind the IDL truck and in front of the hot rods.  At first I didn't think she'd do it because she was nervious and I said to myself,'This parade is just not going to happen,' but when we got down town, Pixi suprised me by going to sleep (or almost) and she actually stood still for pictures.  I was excited about that.

That was the year I did John Wayne.  You can read his story on the testamonials page.  What a job he was.
